Training Practice

TRAINING PRACTICE

We are currently a training practice which means we are involved in the training of GPs.  The GP Trainee is a fully qualified doctor near the end of their training to be a GP.  The Practice has been approved as a training practice since 2011.  This means we will usually have at least one doctor working with us for 6 months or one year, as they gain experience in general practice.  Trainee doctors work for 4 years in hospital before spending their main year with us.  As part of the training, they require to video record several consultations.  Your permission for this will always be sought for this in advance.

We may also have a Foundation Year 2 doctor on placement here at the Practice for a short period of time.  These doctors are in their second year of a medical training programme which forms the bridge between medical school and specialist/general practice training.

We may also have Medical Students on placement for a month at a time.  These students are not yet doctors and your permission will always be sought to involve them in your consultations.
