Kinneil Medical Practice Update:
Having considered feedback from patients and staff, we have decided to amend the appointment system to ensure that patients have good access to appointments and are seen by the most appropriate health professional, or NHS service.
Demand for appointments is high across the healthcare system. In one week, we have had up to thirty-six appointments where patients did not attend or cancel their appointment, which is equivalent to one and a half days of clinician time being wasted.
We plan to offer pre-bookable routine appointments up to two weeks in advance. We want you to be seen by the correct clinician, so the admin staff will ask what the appointment is for and may offer an appointment with someone other than a GP, or redirect you to other NHS services.
If you feel that your issue is more acute or urgent and cannot wait for a routine appointment, we will offer a triage service from 0800-1230. Many practices successfully use such a system to help manage demand for urgent appointments. The admin team will take some details and a clinician will get back to you. If calling out with triage hours you may be asked to call back the following day or if medically urgent your call will be discussed with the on-call clinical team.
